The first step is to thoroughly inspect the shipment for any damage to the crate and packaging. If there is noticeable damage, ensure it is documented at the time of delivery with the freight truck driver. Once the delivery is complete, a more detailed inspection can be performed.
The aquarium crate's lid and side panels are secured with screws, so use a power drill to remove all screws. Carefully remove the crate lid and the cardboard covering the aquarium, then visually inspect all components for any significant damages.
Next, remove the plumbing, sump, and ATO reservoir box from the aquarium. It's essential to handle these items carefully, supporting the sump box from underneath as you lift it, rather than relying solely on the handles to avoid causing damage.
With everything removed from the aquarium, proceed to take off the crate's side panels. Exercise caution, as sharp staples along some edges can cause damage or injury if mishandled. Once the side panels are removed, take off the protective wrapping and corner protectors from the aquarium. Conduct a thorough inspection for any damages, paying particular attention to the bottom corners, as damage claims will not be accepted once the aquarium is removed from the pallet base.
Inspect the sump and ATO reservoir next by removing their outer packaging, corner protectors, and components. This allows for a full inspection for any damages.
Before placing the aquarium on the cabinet, ensure the sump and ATO reservoir are properly positioned inside the cabinet. The front support bars must be moved to the sides to fit the sump into the cabinet. Attempting to do this with the aquarium already on the cabinet can prevent the bars from sliding properly and may cause the front horizontal beams to lower, compromising the cabinet's integrity.
Loosen the locking mechanisms on the front support bars and slide them to the side, creating enough space to place the sump inside the cabinet. Using suction cups to lift and move the sump is highly recommended to minimize the risk of damage. Once the sump and ATO reservoir are in place, return the support bars to their original position and lock them securely.
