Horrible

Waste of money. Hard to assemble. Corner pieces easily break. Would strongly recommend having a lid built for you by Clearview Lids.

Good screen

Not for killifish. They will jump through the net and wholes on the side. I wish they had an option for it to come already assembled for a premium price.

Somewhat difficult,

I consider myself quite handy but this was somewhat difficult. The kit (C) could definitely come with some better instructions as I had to google a few things. I have the Waterbox Cube 20 and received this kit along with the mesh lid and a hacksaw to cut the aluminium frame to size to accommodate the lighting cutouts. I put the standard frame together and then placed the lighting cutouts near the sides and measured the length of aluminium I need to cut, and I cut the pieces that came with the DIY Kit (C). You need 4 pieces of aluminium frame about 8.2cm for the Waterbox Cube 20. I cut these perfectly and the frame fit perfectly on top of my tank. Unfortunately, while putting the frame together I did snap one of the plastic lighting corner pieces that slides into the aluminium frame. I HIGHLY recommend that you do not push hard or use the floor to insert the plastic corner pieces into the frame. If it's just not budging, pull it out, remove any excess that has been shaved off, and, using the aluminium framing, gently give it a bit of a peeling by rubbing the frame on the plastic to shave some thickness off the plastic. It should fit a lot easier. You want a snug fit though, just not so snug that it can't actually be inserted. I left the snapped piece of mine in the aluminium framing, sanded it down fully and just glued the pieces together. I feel that these issues I ran into were errors on my part, but perhaps could have been avoided with proper instruction. Now why I've given this product a 3 star review. The aluminium is fine, sturdy. The mesh is a bit weak, you do need to be delicate with it. If you're going to use a mallet on your spline, make sure you don't miss and hit the mesh as it will tear. The light cutout frame has some plastic. This plastic is weak, and it also, in my experience, cannot hold the spline at all. There is no spline in these areas on my lid as it just falls back out.

Could be easier

I am pretty handy, but it was not easy to cut and assemble this lid. I spent 2-3 hours on what appears to be an easy job at first glance. I even had to make a trip to Lowes to acquire a blade to use to cut the edging. The instructions and the prerequisites for the job could be made much more clear.

Extremely poor assembly fit

I've put together many screen doors and windows that utilizes this same process. The rubber mesh spline in the kitdoesn't work at all. Carefully trying to put the mesh netting in, the spline actually rips the mesh and it's virtually impossible to get the spline in the groove. The fit was completely off and was never checked in the kit I got - the spline was way to big. Wasted my time and money on this. I've bought two tanks from waterbox and this makes me doubt their commitment to provide good products. Dont' get this junk.

Waste of Money

Terrible product and complete waste of money. I expected an assembled mesh looking cover. It comes in a tube, and you need to put the frame together (no issue there), but you have to lay the cheap plastic mesh out on the frame, and push a gasket into to hold the mesh in place. It's not the easiest gasket to push in, let alone to keep the mesh square and tight enough to look half decent. And to top it off, as I seated the gasket, the was breaking the mesh off on the finished side. Made in China - says it all.

Waste of money!

Do not buy!!! Missing parts. Parts don't fit in slot correctly the quality control on these parts are god awful very disappointing in waterbox for putting out parts like this for the and for the money they charge for this lid. Maybe others will have better luck than i did but I would pass on this lid the parts don't fit they brake very easily do not waste your money like I did very disappointing in waterbox. I'm out 120$. Thanks.. On the plus side the customer service lady peeny was very nice at least she is doing her job well..

Waste of money

I bought Kit A and C. It ‘s way too much effort to assemble together. Plastic corners and mesh broke easily. I used a hawk saw to cut the frame. I tried to be careful to avoid scratches on it but still managed to make it look like something i found in the dumpster 😂. I wanted a tight fit but the minor imperfections in my work were not precise enough to guarantee a good fit. Unless you have expensive tools to make precise cuts I don’t see how this would work.

Worst lid ever.

Horrible experience with this DIY kit. Took awhile just to get all the pieces because the kits did not include everything you need to assemble them. When I finally got all the parts to put it together the plastic corner pieces just broke so I said screw it and called Clearview Lids and now they're building me one.
