Support coral growth and maintain stable pH levels in your reef aquarium.
Alkalinity plays a vital role in the success of every reef aquarium. It serves two essential functions—stabilizing pH levels and supporting coral skeleton formation. Acting as a natural buffer, proper alkalinity prevents rapid pH swings that can stress or harm marine life.
In addition, alkalinity provides carbonate ions that combine with calcium to form calcium carbonate, the structural foundation of coral, invertebrate shells, and coralline algae. Maintaining consistent alkalinity ensures steady coral growth, healthy biological processes, and overall system balance.
For best results, we recommend keeping alkalinity between 7.5–9.5 dKH, with minimal daily fluctuation. Stability is key to sustaining vibrant coral health and long-term water chemistry balance.
Key Benefits:
• Helps maintain a stable and balanced pH level
• Provides essential carbonate ions for coral and invertebrate growth
• Promotes strong skeletal development and coral calcification
• Prevents harmful pH swings that can stress aquarium livestock
• Encourages a stable, thriving reef environment
Recommended Levels:
7.5–9.5 dKH
Directions for Use:
Add 5 ml of Alkalinity per 100 L (25 gal) of aquarium water to raise alkalinity by 0.125 dKH.
Test levels regularly and adjust dosage as needed to maintain consistency.
